The Sound of The Sound Vol 1 (2CD)

The Tactics Compact Disc

$25.00

Sydney band Tactics existed for a decade from 1978 to 1988 during which time they helped define the Australian ‘new wave’ sound. Along the way they released four essential (and long deleted) studio albums, a live album of new recordings and a handful of now collectible and impossibly rare singles and EPs.

The Sound of the Sound’ is an extensive two volume series that compiles the band’s entire recorded output and presents the discs in an attractive gatefold card wallet with large booklets with extensive liners and archival material. All tracks have been re-mastered specifically for these two releases.

Volume 1 in the series was released to much critical acclaim in 2006 on Memorandum Recordings. It features the seminal ‘My Houdini’ (1980) and ‘Glebe’ (1981) albums, the live self-released live album ‘The Bones of Barry Harrison’ (1982) and a host of unreleased live and demo recordings. The Glebe album was entirely remixed from the original master tapes for this project.

Tactics have been featured in 3 of the recent archival collections. ‘Tales from the Underground, Vols 1 and 2’,  and ‘Inner City Sound’.
